One Year Reflection: Live Yoga on Zoom
Welcome to spring! One year ago this week, I told my partner, Dan, that I wanted to teach yoga classes on Zoom and offer recordings. He was hesitant that it would work, but supported me nonetheless. I was so nervous and excited to try it out, and decided to email my family, friends, and students with my idea. I remember drafting that first email and wondering if anyone would even open it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to each of you who read, responded, and then took the chance to join a class.
Below is an excerpt from the first email I sent, on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

Dear Friends,
During these uncertain and difficult times, we are all asked to change and reevaluate. Each of us has had to make new choices to take care of ourselves and one another. As I can no longer teach physical classes at gyms or yoga studios, I have been thinking about the best way to share my passion for yoga and fitness during a time when mindful movement may be more helpful than ever.
I want to connect with the community, practice, and share what I have to offer through livestream yoga classes starting this week.
Classes are FREE for all healthcare heroes (physicians, nurses, healthcare workers)-- spread the word!
I practice yoga because it brings me joy and an awakening within that I hope to share with others. I hope that you will feel alive and present by inviting a sense of discovery and play when you meet yourself on the mat.
I deeply appreciate any bit of help on my journey, whether that be joining me for a live class, purchasing a recording, spreading the word, or sending me a note. I wish each of you health, happiness, and gratitude. Thank you for your consideration and hope you'll join me!

Fast forward to now, and teaching live yoga on Zoom is a major part of my livelihood and hands down one of the best parts of my week. These are my favorite classes to teach, have brought me so much joy, and connected me to people from all over the world. I’m so grateful for every one of you who has taken the chance and joined me in a virtual class, whether you are new or have been here since the first email.
To celebrate, I’d like to invite you to a free one-year anniversary class on Saturday, April 3, 9am PT/12pm ET. Hope to see you there!
With tremendous gratitude,
Catherine
